 Geological analysis in this area
showed a layer of clay capping
 a permeable layer of stone,
creating a high water table. By
 removing alluvial debris and the
 clay layer, water was allowed
to percolate into a small lake.

The sides of the lake were lined
 with river-washed stone, the
bottom left unlined to allow the
 upwelling of water. Sapir lake
 has been developed into a
  desert oasis for recreation.
