Location: Old City South Wall, Jerusalem.
Client: Jerusalem Foundation
Completed: 1978.
Team: Shlomo Aronson, Arthur Kutcher,
Peter Bugod, David Sagi.
In 1974, traces were found near the southern
walls of Jerusalem of the First and Second
Temple periods. To preserve and exhibit these
remarkable remains, the road was set back from
the wall and raised above the level of the archaeology.
A footpath leads through the park, past marked
antiquities, creating the setting for the Dung Gate
entrance to the Old City. An area, reserved for
future excavation, is planted with olive trees and
native grasses.
